Dive into the Fun at the 2025 Street Parade!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 2 at 5:00 PM, when the much-loved Street Parade takes over Airlie Beach Main Street in a dazzling display of creativity, colour, and community spirit!

As one of the signature events of the Great Barrier Reef Festival, the parade brings together local businesses, schools, community groups, and performers in a joyful celebration that reflects the vibrancy and unity of the Whitsundays. From dazzling costumes to imaginative floats, live music, and entertainers—it’s a feast for the senses and fun for all ages.

The parade route winds through the buzzing heart of Airlie Beach, transforming the main street into a living, breathing celebration of reef life. Before the sun sets, the energy rises—families, locals, and visitors line the streets, cheer on their favourite floats, and soak up the electric atmosphere.

We’d love to have you on board! Whether you’re a school, sporting club, creative crew, business, or community group, the parade is your chance to showcase your spirit, tell your story, and get creative with this year’s theme:
🎨 “Yet to be announced” – as always it will be a celebration of everything connected to the reef, from the skies to the sea floor.

Parade entries can take the form of walking groups, vehicle floats, or a combination of both. Whether you’re building a coral castle, dressing as sea creatures, or repping your business with style—the more creative, the better!

It’s also a great team-building opportunity—get your group together, brainstorm your float, and have some fun in the process. Many participants say preparing for the parade is just as rewarding as the event itself!

How to Get Involved

• Entry deadline: Tuesday, July 30 – don’t miss out!
• Spectators can enjoy the fun from anywhere along the route, or grab a seat at one of the many cafés, bars, or restaurants lining the street for a front-row view.
